HISTORYThis firehouse was opened on June 11, 1960 when Engine Company 22 and Ladder Company 13 moved in. Both fire companies moved from their former quarters at 70 Warren Avenue which they had occupied since August 1, 1901. The firehouse is located at 700 Tremont Street at the corner of West Concord Street, in the South End section of the city. Two plaques are mounted on the exterior of the firehouse to commemorate five firefighters who died in the Line Of Duty at the Vendome Hotel Fire on June 17, 1972: One plaque is inscribed to members of Ladder Company 13:

Engine 22 has a large response area, covering the South End, Roxbury, Back Bay, and Fenway areas. Engine 22 responds to approximately 2600 incidents per year. Sharing the firehouse with Engine 22 is the Firefighter Rehabiliation Unit (W25) and the Hazardous Materials (Haz-Mat) Response Unit (H3).
