HISTORYThis firehouse was opened on December 20, 1929 when Engine Company 29 and Ladder Company 11 moved in from their former quarters at 20 Chestnut Hill Avenue. The old firehouse is now the site of a senior citizen community center. The new firehouse is located at 138 Chestnut Hill Avenue, opposite Hatherly Road, in the Brighton section of the city. The District Fire Chief of District 11 also shares quarters in this firehouse. Engine 29 and Ladder 11 respond primarily to incidents in the Allston/Brighton section of the city. They are first-due to Boston College, located on the Boston-Newton city line. Engine 29 responds to approximately 2100 incidents per year. Ladder 11 responds to approximately 2000 incidents per year.
