HISTORY

This firehouse was opened on June 1, 1898 when Engine Company 30 moved in from a firehouse on Mt. Vernon Street near Centre Street, West Roxbury. On April 23, 1900 Combination Ladder Company 9 was organized at this firehouse. On April 21, 1905, Combination Ladder Company 9 was disbanded and Ladder Company 25 was organized in its place.

The firehouse is located at 1940 Centre Street, near Park Street, in West Roxbury.

Engine 30 and Ladder 25 respond to incidents in the West Roxbury, Roslindale, Jamaica Plain and Hyde Park sections of the city.

Four plaques are mounted on the exterior of the firehouse to commemorate four firefighters who died in the Line Of Duty:

A memorial stone and plaque is located near the front corner of the firehouse in memory of a West Roxbury native who died at the World Trade Center in New York City on September 11, 2001.

Engine 30 responds to approximately 1700 incidents per year. Ladder 25 responds to approximately 1500 incidents per year.
