EARLY HISTORY

1707 North Engine No. 2 located at the Old North Church (now Salem Street).
July 27, 1733 Became Engine No. 1
July 27, 1733 Engine No. 6 became Engine No. 2 and was located near the New North Meeting House (North and Clark Streets).
1758 Was named Congress Engine No. 2
March, 1802 Moved to a new location on North Bennett Street.
May 22, 1837 Moved to a new location on Broadway between B Street and C Street in South Boston.
1849 Had its location changed to The Point.
1852 Was named Perkins Engine No. 2
December 19, 1859 Company disbanded for disgraceful conduct.
September 17, 1860 Steam Engine No. 2 placed in service on Fourth Street between K Street and L Street, South Boston.
June 2, 1868 Was named Spinney Engine No. 2
1873 Company names discontinued, reverted back to numbered company only (Engine 2 - as it remains today).
May 6, 1882 Company moved to new quarters at East Fourth Street and O Street, South Boston
