EARLY HISTORY

1707 Organized and the Dock Engine and located at the Town Dock (now Dock Square).
October 18, 1715 Moved to Summer Street.
July 27, 1733 Became Engine No. 9 and located at the same place.
July 27, 1733 A new engine was purchased and called Copper Engine No. 3 and located by the North Meeting House (now North Square).
March 28, 1744 Moved to North Bennett Street and Hanover Street.
1758 Was named Washington Engine No. 3
May 26, 1788 Moved to Salem Street.
1849 The company was disbanded.
1852 Reorganized as Eagle Engine No. 3 and was located on Washington Street near Common Street (formerly Engine No. 12).
1853 Moved to Washington Street near Dover Street.
December 1, 1859 Steam Engine No. 3 put into service at Washington Street near Dover Street.
December 8, 1859 Hand Engine No. 3 disbanded.
June 2, 1868 Named Eagle Engine No. 3.
1873 Company names discontinued, reverted back to numbered company only (Engine 3 - as it remains today).
April 1, 1875 Moved to Harrison Avenue and Bristol Street.
