EARLY HISTORY

July 27, 1733 Engine No. 3 became Engine No. 9 and was located in Summer Street.
March 28, 1744 Moved to a location in Essex Street.
1747 Moved to Mr. Jeffries land, near Tremont Street and Beacon Street.
October, 1749 Moved back to Essex Street.
1758 Became Despatch Engine No. 9 and located on Mason Street.
1848 Location changed to City Hall.
1848 Moved to Hudson Street.
1849 Company was disbanded.
1853 Maverick Engine No. 9 was organized and located on Paris Street, East Boston (former location of Engine 11).
1859 Moved to Sumner Street, East Boston.
1859 Location changed back to Paris Street, East Boston (with Ladder Company No. 2)
December 26, 1859 Steam Engine Company No. 9 placed into service at Paris Street, East Boston. Hand Engine Company disbanded.
June 2, 1868 Named Maverick Engine No. 9
1873 Company names discontinued, reverted back to numbered company only (Engine 9 - as it remains today).
