HISTORYThis firehouse was built in 1901 and Engine Company 22 moved in on August 1, 1901 from temporary quarters at 60 Bristol Street. The firehouse is located at 70 Warren Avenue, near Clarendon Street, in the South End section of the city. On August 19, 1901 Ladder Company 13 moved in from their former quarters at 1171 Washington Street, near Dover Street. Both fire companies remained here until June 11, 1960, when the firehouse closed and Engine 22 and Ladder 13 moved to a new firehouse at 700 Tremont Street. 70 Warren Avenue was used as office space by the Boston Redevelopment Authority during the 1960's and 1970's. It was later sold and converted to condominiums and remains extant.
