Steam Engine No. 1 was organized and placed into service at a firehouse formerly occcupied by (Hand) Engine Company 1, at approximately
434 West Broadway
near Dorchester St., north side, on city-owned property adjacent to the Hawes School. (Hand) Engine Company 1 was disbanded.
