MODERN HISTORY

January 10, 1907 Company organized at the quarters built for Combination Wagon #1 on October 5, 1894, at 1884 Dorchester Avenue, in the Peabody Square section of Dorchester. The company was equipped with an 1890 Amoskeag Third-Size steam pumper, CN 663, formerly Engine 20.   Newspaper Story
June 13, 1909 The Firefighter's Monument at Forest Hills Cemetery is dedicated. Margaret and Josephine McLean of Ashmont perform the unveiling ceremony. They are the daughters of Captain Walter McLean, Engine Co. 46, who served as Chairman of the Monument Committee.
July 3, 1914 A Robinson Combination Motor Hose and Chemical wagon, Serial #304, is placed in service replacing the horse-drawn Hose Wagon.
September 1, 1914 A Robinson Two-Wheel tractor is attached to the Amoskeag steam pumper, displacing the horses. (No Serial Number)
March 23, 1915 An American LaFrance Combination Hose and Chemical Wagon, Serial #306, is placed in service.
March 27, 1915 A Christie tractor attached to a 1909 International Power Co. Second-Size steam pumper, Serial #105, formerly Engine 33, is placed in service.
July 4, 1917 Company moved to a temporary location at 1867 Dorchester Ave.
October 12, 1917 Company returned to its permanent quarters at 1884 Dorchester Ave.
October 25, 1920 An American LaFrance Type 75 750gpm pumper, Serial #129, is placed in service.
July 29, 1924 A 1923 American LaFrance Type 75 750gpm pumper, Serial #163, is placed in service.
June 2, 1926 An American LaFrance Type 75 Combination Hose and Chemical Wagon, Serial #351, is placed in service.
June 1, 1938 Ladder Co. 27 moved into quarters with Engine 46. Ladder 27's previous quarters had been with Engine 20 at 32 Walnut St., Neponset section of Dorchester.
December 5, 1946 Due to renovations, company moved to 51 River St., Lower Mills section of Dorchester, formerly occupied by Ladder 6.
June 26, 1947 Company moved back to remodeled quarters at 1884 Dorchester Ave.
January 8, 1948 A Pirsch 1000gpm pumper, Serial #127, is placed in service.
September 3, 1948 An American LaFrance Hose and Booster Wagon, Serial #310, is placed in service.
May 14, 1957 A Federal Civil Defense (CD) pumper, (Engine 60), CD #1, is placed in service.
September, 1957 The Pirsch 1000gpm pumper, Serial #127, is returned to service.
February 25, 1958 Company changed from double-unit operation to Combination single-double unit operation. The pumper runs first under this operation.
August 12, 1958 COMPANY DEACTIVATED.
